Our Founding Story
Initially, ChessEngage was founded to be able to fund a high school student's end-of-year trip. Since then, we have continued to use this platform to fund trips around the world for a student passionate about traveling, aiming to bring cultures closer together, especially as they have been drifting apart with the growth of the technological world.
ChessEngage was created by a 10th-grade student who was presented with an opportunity to travel to Costa Rica during the summer. Being bilingual and passionate about chess, he set out to create a business through which he could earn enough money to finance his trip.
Our project is Costa Rica where we seek to connect with the Caribbean culture and landscape, as well as educate the youth about other cultures to broaden their cultural horizon.
Additionally, we collaborate with a non-profit organization (501(c)(3)) called Chesspire, which offers free chess workshops several times a year. Chesspire's workshops are free and have branches all over the world, from Rwanda to Colombia, aiming to develop critical and analytical thinking skills through chess workshops, along with educational functions in various areas of science. Since both Chesspire and ChessEngage aim to spread the love for chess, we would like to promote Chesspire´s workshops here.
